NEW DELHI: BJP on Friday equated West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s views on the Pulwama attack with the Pakistan army spokesperson’s statement and said both had questioned the timing of the terror strike, just ahead of general elections, and added that Congress leaders were making headlines for Pakistani media against India.
“Mamata Banerjee and some other opposition leaders have spoken on the same lines as Pakistan and questioned the timing of the attack. The neighbouring country has tried to link the attack with the upcoming Lok Sabha polls and Trinamool Congress president made similar comments,” BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said.
He added that some political parties were “not standing with the country” for petty politics when nations across the world had backed India.
Referring to the UN Security Council’s condemnation of the terror attack and naming of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Patra said, “On the one hand, all countries are standing with India, humanity is standing with us, and on the other, some political parties are not standing with the country for their petty politics.”
He claimed that tweets of Congress leaders, including Manish Tewari and Shashi Tharoor, had grabbed headlines in Pakistan. Patra said India should have nothing to do with Pakistan.
