World Cup 2019: Funny reactions after Sania Mirza congratulates Pakistan's thrilling win – India Today

Indian tennis star Sania Mirza was at the receiving end of some trolls once again after she congratulated the Pakistan cricket team on their thumping win against England in World Cup 2019 on Monday.

Pakistan stunned hosts England by 14 runs in Nottingham to register their first win of the tournament. The win ended Pakistan’s 11-match losing streak in ODIs which also included the 4-0 series defeat against England just before the World Cup commenced on May 30.

Sania Mirza, who is married to all-rounder Shoaib Malik, took to social media to congratulate Pakistan team.

“How can you not love sport ?! Amazing and most unpredictable .there are no favorites’.. you are only as good or as bad depending on how you play on that given day.. period!!

“Congratulations to Team Pakistan on bouncing back the way they did and being as unpredictable like it always is !!! @cricketworldcup got more interesting than it already was,” Sania Mirza tweeted after the game.

Pakistan had suffered a crushing defeat in their first match of the tournament against the West Indies but they bounced back in style to beat the tournament favourites England by outclassing them in all three departments.

Pakistan rode on half-centuries from Mohammad Hafeez (84), Babar Azam (63) and Sarfaraz Ahmed (55) to post 348 for 8 after being put into bat.

The bowlers then stepped up to the occasion and restricted England to 334 for 9 in 50 overs with Wahab Riaz, Mohammad Amir and Shadab Khan causing most of the damage for Pakistan.

Wahab finished with 3 wickets for 82 runs from 10 overs while Amir and Shadab bagged two wickets each. Hafeez and Shoaib Malik also contributed with a wicket each.

Wishes poured in for Sarfaraz Ahmed’s team on social media with Sania Mirza leading the way. But some fans, presumably Indians, replied on her tweet asking her who she would support on June 16 when India take on Pakistan in Manchester.

A fan even suggested that no matter how well Pakistan perform up until June 16, they won’t be able to defeat India. India have a 6-0 record against Pakistan, having never lost in a World Cup match against their arch-rivals.
