MADISON, NJ, October 8, 2019 — The Madison Eagle Christmas Fund (MECF) is seeking additional volunteers and support to help bring joy to neighbors in need for the holiday season. A proud Madison tradition, the MECF has assisted families, seniors and disabled individuals with financial difficulties for 45 years.
The MECF is calling on local residents to continue the tradition of “neighbors helping neighbors.” October marks the official solicitation of MECF cash donations with inserts provided in the October electric bill. Tax-deductible cash donations, essential to the MECF mission, can be made with the insert by posting a check payable to the Madison Eagle Christmas Fund, PO Box 2, Madison, NJ 07940 or directly through the website at www.madisoneaglechristmasfund.org/monetary-donations/.
The MECF is also seeking additional adult volunteers to help with marketing, fundraising, and gift distribution. The group is particularly looking for individuals to assist with social media publicity, organizing senior citizen outreach and accounting. Residents or groups who would like to get involved with the MECF are encouraged to reach out via email to Stacey Smollen at email@example.com or visit madisoneaglechristmasfund.org.
The organization is a community effort with civics and religious groups, merchants, volunteers and individual donors teaming up to help neighbors with financial challenges. Last year, the fund assisted 56 families and 70 senior citizens, providing holiday gifts such as coats, toys, books, grocery and gas gift cards for close to 300 Madison residents.
Roughly $30,000 is raised annually, and the organization relies solely on donations and volunteers to cover operating expenses.
