SALUTE, INC., the nonprofit organization dedicated to helping military veterans and their families overcome barriers to care through short-term financial support, was recognized as the Not for Profit Organization of the Year Friday night at the annual Arlington Heights Chamber of Commerce Recognition Dinner.
Founders Will and Mary Beth Beiersdorf accepted the award on behalf of all the employees, volunteers and donors who have helped the organization grow since it was founded in 2003.
“We are truly grateful for this recognition and want to acknowledge the many individuals and organizations who support us in our mission to provide healing, hope and opportunity for recent military veterans and their families,” Mary Beth said. “Arlington Heights has very much been a home to us, hosting many of our events over the years, and we are blessed to have built so many lasting relationships with the people and businesses in this community.”
Operating with just a staff of four employees, the grassroots network of volunteers and donors has allowed SALUTE to assist more than 12,300 military servicemen and women and their families since its inception, providing nearly $4.5 million in temporary assistance.
“Recognition of this type means a great deal to us and encourages us to further our commitment to the military families who need assistance in getting the care they need at the most critical time,” said Beiersdorf after the ceremony.
