Former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar on Saturday responded to Kapil Dev’s assertion on his thought of a made-for-television three-match ODI series between India and Pakistan to elevate funds for the Covid-19 pandemic.
In an unique interview with Aaj Tak, Shoaib Akhtar mentioned that he revered Kapil Dev however the entire world wants cash within the wake of the coronavirus disaster.
““I don’t think Kapil bhai understood what I was trying to say. Everyone is going to be trapped economically. This is the time to put our heads together and generate revenues. The global audience would be hooked by a match. Kapil said he doesn’t need the money and he surely doesn’t. But everyone else does. I think this suggestion will come into consideration soon,” Akhtar advised Vikrant Gupta – Senior Executive Editor, Aaj Tak.
“I had said that I know India more than even Imran Khan himself. I have traveled to many areas and interacted with many people there. I keep telling people here what Indians are all about. Our countries have a lot of poverty. I am saddened when people are suffering. As a human and as a Muslim, it is my responsibility to help as much as I can,” Akhtar mentioned.
Kapil Dev had rejected Akhtar’s proposal of a closed-door series to collectively elevate funds to combat the lethal virus each in India and Pakistan. Kapil Dev had mentioned the proposal shouldn’t be possible.
Akhtar has spent numerous time in India as a commentator and he claimed that he knew India higher than the Pakistan PM. He fondly recalled his days in Mumbai in the course of the World T20 in 2016, the final time he got here to India for work.
