New Delhi: Actor and Congress leader Nagma is at the receiving end of a Twitter storm with people saying #NagmaStandsWithPakistan. The Twitter trend went viral Thursday and has got more than 10,000 tweets with many people accusing Nagma of being anti-India and siding with Pakistan.

Late Wednesday, Nagma tweeted, “I can’t believe the language what the BJP Spokesperson is using on @aajtak for a Pakistani person Tariq Peerzada and @AnjanaOmModiAT is allowing him and also continuously speaking over the female journalists from Pak why invite them if you are hell bent on insulting them.”

The BJP spokesperson in question was Sambit Patra, who told Pakistani news analyst Tariq Peerzada to “shut up” and said there were pictures of him “begging” on Twitter. He even said that children would get scared seeing him on Skype.

Pakistani woman journalist Mona Alam was also appearing on the television news debate on AajTak. Patra went on to call her “Hafiz Saeed’s spokesperson”.

Anchored by journalist Anjana Om Kashyap, the debate was titled ‘Duniya corona se passth, Pak aatank se mast (While the world battles coronavirus, Pakistan indulges in terrorism)’, following the Handwara attack in which four Army personnel, including the commanding officer of the Rashtriya Rifles’ 21 Battalion, and a sub-inspector of police were killed, and the subsequent killing of Hizbul commander Riyaz Naikoo.

Calling out journalists

In the past and recently as well, actor-turned-politician Nagma has taken to the micro-blogging site to call out journalists for allegedly spreading hatred and pushing their agenda.

She said Times Now’s group editor-politics Navika Kumar’s debates are hollow and only allow BJP’s point of view on debates about Kashmir.

She also tweeted a video of doctors in Mathura saying they will only treat Hindus and not Muslims and said this was because of “Godi Media” and the BJP’s agenda of spreading hatred. She once even demanded an FIR against Arnab Goswami.
