The volunteerism of the Kosher Guru has been on display throughout the coronavirus pandemic as Gabriel Boxer posted on Facebook that hundreds of families have received food assistance largely in part to the Kosher Response Project.

The Hewlett resident Boxer launched the Kosher Response Project in the earliest days of the pandemic in March. Boxer is known as the “Kosher Guru” due to his background in the kosher food industry. He is a restaurant consultant who seeks to help companies thrive in the industry. Boxer has a prominent presence on social media as his Instagram account: @kosherguru has over 45,000 followers.

“I think just a huge thank you is in order,” Boxer wrote on Facebook. “I would like to thank all of our volunteers, sponsors and donors that have been supportive of everything we do to help our community and beyond.”

Boxer also wrote on Facebook that through his multiple initiatives he has undertaken in the last five months such as the Kosher Response Project and the Feed A Family Fuel A Restaurant initaitve, $85,000 has been donated to local food establishments, $65,000 in new furniture was given out and on average, 200 families received shabbos food each week.

“Miri Stern and I would like to thank all of our volunteers, donors and sponsors that have made Kosher Response the organization during the last six months helping to make an impact in our community and beyond,” Boxer added. “When people think of all the help given to so many, from front healthcare heroes to frontline workers to families in need, they think of Kosher Response and we could not have done it without all of your support.”
