The needs of two local nonprofits top this week’s list of volunteer opportunities, with both organizations seeking help with multiple aspects of their work.

Rhode Island Blood Center is recruiting greeters for its centers in Providence, South County, Westerly and Woonsocket, and on Aquidneck Island. Volunteers provide assistance at the site’s entrance and in refreshment areas and watch for possible reactions post-donation to alert staff. Single monthly and weekly shifts are offered. Volunteers must be 18 and older; background check required. Contact Chelsea Benjamin at Chelsea.benjamin@ribc.org or (401) 248-5773.

The Blood Center also asks donors to book available slots to help support a steady supply of blood for patients. Safely donate via appointment at one of six centers or mobile sites: Middletown, Narragansett, Providence, Warwick, Westerly and Woonsocket. Visit ribc.org or call (800) 283-8385.

The Village Common of Rhode Island, which provides a nonprofit community-based network of support for people who wish to remain in their homes and communities as they age, seeks volunteers for several roles:

Archivist: Digitally organize, maintain and format documents.

Community liaison: Survey neighborhood newsletters and meetings for information relevant to the Village.

Service coordinator: From your home, take calls from clients and assist with scheduling appointments online (computer and cellphone required).

Snow shoveling: Help remove snow for Village members.

Contact Eliza Sutton: esutton@villagecommonri.org and (401) 228-8683.

United Way of Rhode Island offers additional volunteer opportunities at volunteer.uwri.org.
