India desires cordial relations with the people of Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan in a letter on the occasion of Pakistan Day. However, PM Modi asserted that an environment devoid of terror was imperative for such relations.
The message, dated March 22, was conveyed to Imran Khan by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad through the Pakistan Foreign Office. In his letter, Modi extended greetings to the people of Pakistan. This comes close on the heels of ceasefire arrangement along LoC and the international border.
“As a neighbouring country, India desires cordial relations with the people of Pakistan. For this, an environment of trust, devoid of terror and hostility, is imperative,” Modi said in the letter.
Modi also conveyed wishes to Khan and the people of Pakistan for dealing with the challenges of Covid-19, terming it a “difficult time for humanity”.
